Sadly, mass shootings can also occur at home. In early January 2023, the Haight family killings devasted their extended family and the small community of Enoch, Utah. Altogether eight people, including five children, were found dead in the family home.

A deadly loophole allows guns to be sold between a seller and a buyer who don’t know each other – and no background check is required. Utah can close this “stranger-to-stranger” loophole and expand background checks to prevent dangerous people from buying guns.
