Increase School Violence Prevention
After the tragic school shooting in Parkland, Florida, bipartisan legislators from both sides of the aisle came together to prevent school shootings by passing the STOP School Violence Act. It supports and funds lifesaving violence prevention programs. Because of this law, students around the country have access to no-cost suicide prevention and violence prevention training. If STOP has helped your community, please share your story here.
Every year, Sandy Hook Promise Action Fund asks Congress to continue funding this program. Without the STOP School Violence Act, more children are at risk. You can help make sure your elected officials support school safety.

Mass Shootings in Colorado
Colorado has sadly been struck by some of the most infamous mass shootings in America's history. Columbine, a name which once evoked gentle fields of the native Coloradan flower, now floods our minds with shooters in trenchcoats hunting their classmates with semi-automatic weapons. In 1999, 13 Columbine High School students were killed and 20 others were wounded in what was the worst school shooting in American history at the time.
In Aurora, a gunman opened fire in a crowded movie theater in 2012, killing 12 people and wounding 70 others. A hate-fueled massacre against the LGBTQ+ community in Colorado Springs in 2022 ended with 5 people dead and 19 wounded with gun fire. The epidemic of gun violence has taken a heavy toll on Coloradans. Our hearts remain with the loved ones of the victims of these and other senseless acts of gun violence.
